Natural wedding photography from London wedding photographer Ben Larpent
Welcome to my website. Thank you so much for stopping by! I’m a London wedding photographer, so as well as shooting weddings in London, I’m also in easy reach of Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Essex and Hertfordshire. I specialise in elegant, natural wedding photography – photography that doesn’t look staged or posed, and that will never date. My passion for documentary wedding photography is driven by the thrill of capturing those fleeting moments of emotion which are so small and pass by so quickly, sometimes unnoticed, but which are the key ingredients in telling the rich and vibrant story of a wedding day. I want you to look back at your photographs in 20 years time and remember exactly how you felt on that day, and in that moment.
“It was the most perfect day and thanks to Ben’s wonderful photography we will forever have the most beautiful memories. Thanks for sharing the day with us Ben and Frances and for the best photos we could have hoped for” – Janet, Bride & Client
“Ben, thank you so so so much. The photos are MAGICAL. You have captured many very beautiful moments!!! I will call you later in the week once I have stopped obsessing over them. We love them!” – Helen, Bride & Client
“You have given us all the perfect memories to cherish – and the only problem I now face is which shots to choose for the photo frames” – Pam, mother of the bride
As a London wedding photographer, I’m lucky enough to live near some beautiful locations. Some of my favourite places to shoot, in or close to London, include Hever Castle, Notley Abbey, Tylney Hall, Dulwich College and Merchant Taylor’s Hall, an incredible 14th century building in the heart of London’s Square Mile. As well as shooing London weddings, my longstanding love of travel means I’m happy to travel anywhere in the UK or abroad to shoot your wedding.
My photographic style
To me, natural wedding photography means encouraging and capturing genuine interactions between a couple, with only a small amount of direction from me. It also means avoiding photographic trends which can go out of date. I love working with natural light as much as possible. I do use flash, but only to enhance an image if lighting conditions dictate it, such as during evening speeches and dancing. I feel that this results in a style of photograph that will never date. If you ask me to photograph your wedding, as well as the documentary shots I’ll take, I’ll provide you with some stunning images of just the two of you. I’ll choose the best and most suitable locations. I’ll happily give advice to help you feel completely comfortable with each other in front of the camera, without allowing photographs to feel overly posed. My images will just capture the two of you being with each other, in the moment. If I’m doing my job properly you should be able to forget I’m there at all!
London family photographer
Being a relatively new father, I absolutely love capturing natural photographs of newborns and children. I do this in the comfort of your own home for newborns, or at a mutually agreed outdoor location for older children and family sessions. I don’t pose babies and prefer not to use props such as miniature watering cans and wheelbarrows! I aim to capture the natural interactions that take place between children and adults – family life as you will want to remember it many years from now,
I firmly believe that good photography should be displayed in the best possible way, whether it’s on the wall in a large multi-aperture frame for all to see, or in a beautiful album. I’m thrilled to work with some of the world’s most respected suppliers. For wedding albums, I only use Queensberry Albums, hand made in New Zealand to the highest standards. For any photographs that need framing I have a wide range of top quality frames to choose from.
